AFTER YEARS of debate and controversy over the quality of the aging Queen Elizabeth Hospital subject, it looks like Barbados could get a new general hospital.

This came out of a press conference at the Ministry of Health this morning where Minister of Health Donville Inniss disclosed Cabinet’s decision to the Press.

“The Ministry of Health recently proposed to Cabinet and Cabinet agreed that the Ministry of Health should enter into negotiations with potential consultants for the purposes of conducting a feasibility study on the construction of a new hospital on green(er) fields; conduct appraisals of alternative sites and make recommendation on the most suitable site for a new general hospital,” he said.
