Alexa rankings for Barbados real estate sites

Posted by Jonathan in BPL on February 14th, 2010

Unfortunately, there are no 100% accurate methods for measuring website traffic for sites other than your own. The best option we have is Alexa.com. Here is a list of Alexa rankings for some Barbados property websites. The smaller the number, the more traffic. So for example: BPL is currently the 461,212th most popular site in the world according to Alexa.

  1. barbadospropertylist.com — 461,212
  2. totallybarbados.com — 472,875
  3. cariblist.com — 684,879
  4. aaaltman.com — 991,148
  5. terracaribbean.com — 1,497,518
  6. askbarbadosrealty.com — 1,873,451
  7. westcoastvillas.com — 2,043,574
  8. cluttonsbarbados.com — 2,907,320
  9. harrymanning.com — 3,365,225
  10. totallybarbadosrealestate.com — 4,718,435

Not only is our Alexa ranking the highest out of all the sites I’ve sampled recently, but we have a few other creative techniques up our sleeves to ensure you get the right traffic to your business.

We think your property listings should get as much exposure online as possible, get in touch with us today via our contact form and find out more…

BPL’s RSS feeds

Posted by Jonathan in BPL on February 5th, 2010

BPL's RSS FeedsRSS feeds are a great way to get Barbados Property List updates without the hassle of typing in our address and visiting our web pages.

We have 2 feeds on BPL, 1 for property listings and another for blog posts:

You will need an RSS reader to connect to these feeds. I highly recommend Google Reader, it’s very well designed and allows you to keep up to date with many websites from a single, well designed interface. It also works great on smart phones like iPhone and Blackberry. I read RSS feeds every day, as most major newspapers offer feeds as well. It’s great to get all your news centralised in one place…

A few stats from 2009

Posted by Jonathan in BPL on December 31st, 2009

Here are a few tid bits from the BPL stats for 2009.

Top 5 pages on BPL

  1. Less than $500,000 USD
  2. Cluttons
  3. About Us
  4. Caribbean Luxury Property
  5. Alleyne Real Estate

This really says a lot about the most popular price for BPL users, properties at less than $500,000 USD. The popularity of the agent’s pages says a lot about the attractiveness of their listings and the time they have been listing with us.

Top 5 countries visiting BPL

  1. Barbados
  2. United Kingdom
  3. United States
  4. Canada
  5. Trinidad and Tobago

A strong showing by all the major property buying countries. And whilst not many Americans buy here, the US tends to dominate most website stats because of the sheer size of their online population.

Top 5 keywords driving traffic to BPL

  1. property barbados
  2. barbados
  3. properties barbados
  4. real estate barbados
  5. barbados real estate

As you can see the traffic we receive is highly relevant to the business of selling barbados real estate.

Season’s greetings, 2009!

Living Barbados, December 2009 – March 2009 edition

Posted by Jonathan in BPL, Real Estate on December 10th, 2009

Living Barbados magazine (front cover)Congratulations to Jill Tomlin, Colleen Cole & Linda Lewis-Bishton on another fine issue of Living Barbados, the magazine for property investment and lifestyle in Barbados.

The winter season issue is packed with great articles, listings and photography, making the case for living in Barbados even more compelling. Here are a few items from the table of contents:

  • Destination: Crane Village — At the intersection of Heaven and Earth. By Kerri Birch
  • Isle of Plenty — The Barbados real estate scene appeals to all types of buyers. Which coast suits you best? By Laura Henderson
  • Wealth Management and Your Real Estate Assets — Manage your assets during a global recession. By N. Elliot Barrow
  • Investor Interview — with Mark Maloney, Managing Director of Preconco Limited

There are many more interesting features and listings from the island’s real estate agents, and you’ll even find a 1 page ad from your favourite listings website on page 86.

We didn’t have a great deal of time to put together the artwork for the ad, which is why it’s so minimal. Leafing through the magazine it looks quite different to the average real estate ads. We like the fact that it’s big and bold, but next time we’ll try something more sophisticated. What do you think?

Advanced search feature is broken

Posted by Jonathan in BPL on December 2nd, 2009

For some reason, our advanced search feature has stopped working on the BPL listings site. We are currently working on a fix for this…
